Triple Whiskey "On The Rocks"
Team Captain: Warren Miller
Other pilot: John Harris Air Hostess: Geoff Leaver
Aircraft: Tobago TB10 VH-WWW
Team Triple Whiskey “On the Rocks” are back again! We had far too much fun and adventure in the 2015 race not to do it again. We also have some challenging goals to beat as in 2015 we ended up 9th overall on the race leader board, 6th on the fundraiser leader board and were the only team from the Eastern states to make it to Esperance - Myrup for the start of the race, bad weather grounding the others along the way. The photos below show our arrival at Myrup strip the afternoon before the start.
Hey Guys! We may be the slowest aircraft in the group but you know the saying.....”Slow and steady wins the race”
Team Triple Whiskey “On the Rocks” team members remain the same as in 2015.
In March 2017 Warren, John and Geoff flew WWW from Coffs Harbour to Tasmania with stop overs on Flinders Island on the way down and King Island on the return.
TB10 VH-WWW is nicely set up with the Garmin GTN750 GPS, Stec 60-2 autopilot, King HSI, roll steer and has recently had a Garmin G5
AH installed as primary with the vac AH being retained as secondary.
With AvPlan as our flight planner and EFB we are ready for the challenge.
Warren has relaxed into life as a retiree and enjoys his flying and keeping the aircraft spick and span as well as spending time with the Grandchildren.
At the end of 2015 Warren completed his PIFR training and is enjoying the freedom and challenges that IFR flying has opened up.
Warren also flies voluntary missions for Angel Flight and enjoys being able to help get someone to a medical appointment that would otherwise be a long and uncomfortable drive.
Warren is excited to once again join the OAR to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctors and requests friends to dig deep and help meet the goals for such a worthy cause.
John has settled into retired life and is also kept busy with flying, Grandchildren and maintaining the gardens on their 5 acre property. He has also managed to fit in a couple of overseas trips.
John completed his PIFR training in March 2016 and has embraced the challenges that this privilege brings with it.
John is also registered with Angel Flight and has flown with Warren on most of the missions.
So friends, please click on our fundraiser page and make a donation to help keep the Flying Doctor in the air!
Geoff retired a couple of years ago but he has since been seen for at least 8 hours every day at the office or away on site inspecting or supervising a job.lol.
Unfortunately Geoff’s wings are still clipped due to CASA’s medical requirements but he is still looking forward to the day when the new medical reforms will be implemented for private pilots and he can return to the LH seat.
In the meantime Geoff enjoys being “hosty” on the trips with John & Warren and he is currently itching for a trip across the ditch to Lord Howe Island.
Request for help.....
Please note that we self fund all our flying and accommodation expenses for the Air Race.
Every cent donated goes to the Royal Flying Doctors so please get behind us for a great cause and be generous!
